Hyundai Starex
New family hauler! Pretty awesome thing, had it since end of October! Bro got a new Saga too, which I promptly “broke-in” for him 😀

Mercedes Benz V230
Finally shot more pics of the V230, cause I never cared much for it in the first place, other than a very memorable trip to numerous spots in Thailand last year. It’s been placed for sale, haha, well, I hope you go to a good owner, not that hard considering you’re more than mint anyway, and thanks for being my spare car for quite a while but I doubt I’m gonna miss ya!

Citroen Xantia
Over the past few months, the Xantia has had it’s aircon fixed nicely, got a new cylinder head, new paint, seats refurbished, and even new mats!

Citroen Xantia
I can’t believe I’ve been driving my favourite car since 2004 and never had a proper pic taken with it! Here’s one finally, sadly, also the last I guess. It’s been a swell 5 years with my Xantia, it wasn’t always a good run but the car has been with me through a lot. It definitely impressed a lot of people with its style, space, comfort and even shocked more with its cornering prowess. My friends are definitely gonna miss it too. I hope you get a caring new owner and can continue to smoke others on the road. Maybe we’ll meet again someday. Maybe you’re gonna smoke me, but I’m probably gonna smoke you. I’m gonna miss you, please don’t wreck or burn yourself till then 2013. I’ll always remember you fondly.

27th November – Woke up, washed car a bit again because it farking rained and dirtied the car again last night! Had breakfast in Gunung Rapat and set off to Cameron Highlands at 0830!

Too lazy to blog in detail, so it’s random pics galore again!

The first of ten thousand easy challenges before getting to the bride: getting male lipstick marks on tissue!

Photobucket
Second of ten thousand easy challenges before getting to the bride: 20 *gasp* push-ups! Then came other stuff like saying “I love you” in 5 languages. Yea, that’s 5, in Malaysia. *faints*

Photobucket
We went up early and I washed the V23o thrice it was so damn squeaky clean because my aunt had early requested to use it as the bridal car. Then they decided the ribbons weren’t long enough and borrowed a nice Accord. I just washed the V230 three times for nothing *pening*

Uncle Kim Kooi drove SiuDiDi, Bro, Sis, Yen & me up in the V230. Dad and Mom came up much later in the Multipla, which has crappy handling now no thanks to wheels with wrong offset.

Haven’t been back here in a long time (and apparently long is kinda understating it), and I’m truly shocked that the once pristine river is now so murky 😦

Yen’s very happy, because this is the first time I bought her flowers…. after she nagged me into it :p

Trip to Thailand, Day 4 & 5 24112008-25112008

Made our own breakfast in the morning again, and my burnt back is starting to kill me! Up and down Kamala we went early to Patong Beach again as we will be joining a tour to Phi Phi Island! We booked the tour at the stall with all those mechanical parts Aliens & Predators we came upon during our first visit there.

Photobucket
No, this is not Ko Phi Phi.

Photobucket
Nope, not this one either, no idea what they are called :p

OK, anyway, the funny thing is, we set off from Laguna in Phuket, then travelled thru Kamala to Patong, only to take a HiAce all the way back to Phuket, where we boarded a ship to go to Phi Phi, which is actually near Krabi. So it’s like Phuket > Patong > Phuket > Krabi. Wtf right, lol!

Once the ship we’re on reached Phi Phi, some passengers got off to join a different tour while our ship turned back towards a nearby island before it stopped in this beautiful lagoon:
Photobucket

Photobucket
The water sure looked like someone poured loads of Buncho colour into it, so beautiful, and look at the fishies! I need to get a camera with a polarising lens!

Here, we got off the boat and went swimming with the fishes!
Photobucket
It was my first time swimming with the fishes, and I must say, it was super duper fun! I was a bit worried the fishes might nibble at me at first, but it seems fat arses do not interest them :p Yen was scared as she couldn’t swim, but I thought her how to float while in Phuket earlier, and she had a life jacket on, so she eventually got used to it. Mom was scared but joined us in the water too later! It’s fun to swim with the fishes! The water is so clear you can actually see the seabed which is about 20+ feet underneath us, and the fishes are so near you that you can actually touch some of them sometimes! I really enjoyed this experience!

I haven’t had enough of swimming with the fishes, but we had to go as the ship was going back to Phi Phi.
Photobucket

There, we were treated to buffet lunch, we ate just enough as we still want to visit the beach.

Photobucket

Photobucket
It was low tide, so we can actually walk into the sea, more than 300 feet on, and the water is still barely knee-deep! The beach is pretty flat, as you can see people who are further out than us standing in the same depth of water.

Photobucket
And this is me with my annoyed face because I did not apply sunblock the day before, and I’m now all sunburnt and red!

Photobucket

Crabs! Lots of these running around in the shallow waters! It’ll be hard to even accidentally step on them as they’re pretty quick to hide in the sand when they detect movement nearby!

The time to say bye bye to Phi Phi Island came all too soon. We barely had a stroll in the water before we had to bath and prepare to leave.

The sky was starting to get dark when we got back to Patong, so we just had some snacks by the road before having dinner in Phuket.

Some last pics from Patong Beach:

Also finally went to take some pics of Laguna Holiday Club 🙂

Day 5! The last day of our trip! Well I’m pretty sad to leave so soon actually, I’ve enjoyed the trip so far so much, but all good things come to an end, so it’s with a heavy heart that we all packed up and started our way home.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Bought these crabs / crawfish / whatever on the way back to Haadyai! They’re kinda delicious, but I’m to lazy to use my hands :p

Photobucket
I wish we have something like this at home so that I can ride it to get groceries! WARGH, and seeing bikes make me miss riding the GT750!!

Photobucket
A lot of buses in Thailand has these shiny caps snapped onto the wheel bolts. Me likes!

Photobucket
(Insert lame joke about cannons and/or KameHameHa here) :p

Photobucket
A random pic taken about during day 3 I think, I messed things up :p

Photobucket

Photobucket
Nice drive all the way: no police, no jams, no speed bumps, no potholes, nice weather!

In Haadyai, we walked around a bit while Mom & Dad went to get some Thai massage. We found a set of Hello Kitty number plates but it was too expensive, and the design wasn’t particularly nice either, so we passed. In the end, we went into a store and brought lotsa snacks and junk food :p

Photobucket
HUGE Mentos and Chocky sticks!

After that, we had dinner at the open-air 59 restaurant before heading home. It started raining real bad and we couldn’t see shit with the V230’s crappy headlights. Still made it home safely anyway 🙂 Once home, we unpacked a bit, then cleaned up the house and finally slept at nearly 4am!

Well, that summarizes the 5 days of the trip! AH, finally done!

Trip to Thailand, Day 2 22112008

Woke up to this beautiful view on Saturday morning 🙂

Photobucket

Before leaving Krabi River, we went to town for breakfast:
Photobucket
My fave!!

Photobucket
I like this truck a lot. The owner was cleaning the engine bay as we arrived, and Dad glimpsed what looked like a pretty sizable turbo in there 😀 The shop behind the truck opened soon enough and Mom got some nice clothes there!

Photobucket
Believe it or not, you’re actually looking at the back portion of a fuel station!

Photobucket
On our way to Phuket, we came by a climbing park that we decided to check out even if none of us climb at all. The entrance and exit of this park are by means of these twin caves in the rock wall, the exit cave is a bit to the left of the truck.

Photobucket
Utilized the old Mju 300’s remote capabilities to take pics…

Photobucket
…and apparently it isn’t effective too far off as evident by the need for Bro to walk up and press the button :p

Photobucket
The view inside the park is absolutely breathtaking, the surrounding hills isolated this park well!

Photobucket
Lunch time! Yen and Sis also went to feed the fishes in the pond nearby!

Inside the caves!

Upon reaching Phuket, we had some difficulties locating the resort we booked with, and since we were already around the approximate area, we just drove around for sightseeing. Between the town of Phuket and Patong, there is this hilly area of Kamala with it’s narrow and twisty hill roads. Along the roads are all contemporary buildings built for residences, offices and also restaurants. I couldn’t get a good pic of the place since the roads are too narrow for us to stop for photos, but it’s a nice region with plentiful view of the sea and Patong Beach.

Saw this well-kept Dodge truck in Kamala!
Photobucket

Photobucket
Arizona plates, kept for novelty’s sake?

Photobucket
I like how there’s a scale model of the truck in matching colours on the dashboard 🙂

We reached Patong Beach but there wasn’t much to see in the afternoon, so up and down Kamala we went again and finally found Laguna Holiday Club Resort, where we will be staying! Anyway, Laguna is a pretty big and beautiful resort, the surroundings and suites got our instant liking! I find it most impressive that the sprawling resort area is so clean and well-managed! It’s location is nice, close enough to the beach, but separated from the bustling Patong, where all the tourists are nowadays, very peaceful!

Oh by the way, as mint as the Dodge truck looks, it doesn’t just sit there looking pretty; we actually saw it being driven out to just outside Laguna!

Anyway, it was just the afternoon, so we set off again as soon as we unloaded our luggage! We had lunch at a stall not far outside Laguna, it was all rice with meat and vegetables of our choosing. I chose two varieties of pork and it was very good, Dad and Yen chose the very spicy curry pork though :p The meal was very enjoyable, and the bill came to only about RM12 for the six of us! That’s RM2 per person, for a full plate of rice with generous amount of meat and vege, and the food was good!! I seriously cannot imagine getting such a meal back here in Malaysia, and I’m still craving the meal they serve!

OK, after lunch, we returned to the resort for a short break before going to Patong again at night.

Photobucket

Patong is bustling with tourists! There, apart from the locals, we were surrounded by westerners, left, right, and centre!

Photobucket

Photobucket

We came by a store selling Alien and Predator statues made from used mechanical parts! Spark plugs, chains, fuel tanks, lower arms, con-rods, struts, you name it, you’ll find it somewhere on the statues!

Photobucket
Nice lamps, I like them a lot, though I didn’t buy any :p

Photobucket
Food, tasty food 🙂

Photobucket

Photobucket
Nice helmets, but they are too costly 😦

Photobucket
A bit too much I think, but the Thais like their Tigers as evident from places like Tiger Bar, Tiger Inn etc etc

Photobucket

And now, for a different kind of tiger, the Thai Girls 😀
Photobucket
Hot! I’m not sure if these are real girls though, they look real enough for me :p

Photobucket
If you look closely, there are actually nipples in this pic ^^

Trip to Thailand, Day 1 21112008 srsly :D

OK, I’m gonna blog about my trip to Thailand this time, serious! On Friday morning, we set off at 0800 and reached the immigrations at Sadao a little bit over 1100, from there, off we went in the direction of Phatthalung!

Photobucket
Extremely tasty chicken we had for lunch at Phatthalung, chickens in Thailand are tastier and leaner than what we have here in Malaysia!
Photobucket
On the way to Trang, we saw this ship-shaped building, this has to be the largest one I’ve seen so far; it’s part of a hotel called MP Resort. Taking pictures of it is hard because of the pesky trees and power lines, but this should give you a good idea of how it looks like!

Photobucket
Yen with her Soh Poh pose beside the ship 😉

Photobucket
Nice fountain, I find it funny how those seals got into the mix alongside the horses, mermaids and angels 😀

Photobucket
Daihatsu Midget!! One of the reasons Thailand is so damn cool in my books is because of the sure amount of odd and well-maintained nolstalgic cars on the road!

Photobucket
Yes, that’s our V230 at the bottom of the pic! For most of it’s life it’s been hidden under a porch, but now that it’s with us, it’s going places, and adding some mileage to it’s odometers 🙂 Still a less-than-satisfactory MPV though.

While Mom and Bro were checking us in at the Tamarind in Trang, I walked back to snap pics of a Citroen Xantia I spotted before we turned in:Photobucket
Nice! It’s got add-ons slapped onto the front bumper as well as different foglamps. It’s also fitted with skirts at the sides and rear. Spoiler is the same as mine minus the brake lamps. This would be the first of only 3 Xantias we spotted throughout the trip, the last one floated away very fast around the curves ^^

Photobucket
Dad’s been wanting one of these forever, I like em too, although I’d like it much better if it was a BUS!

In the end, we did not stay at Trang as a member of the staff was being an ass and insisted on charging an additional fee for us 6 to stay in one room even though the rest said it was ok. Trang’s boring anyway, think Haadyai minus the shopping and massages, so we headed straight to Krabi instead 🙂

Anyway, before leaving the Tamarind, we spotted this:

and took this pic:
Photobucket
More Midget love!

Bye bye Trang & hello Krabi!
Photobucket
Wat Tham Sua in Krabi! Actually, there wasn’t much to see around here since we did not take the hike to visit the Tiger Caves, if we did, it would have taken us hours, but the sky was getting dark, maybe next time.

Dad brought us to Wat Tham Sua just so we can have a look at a preserved monk, Ajarn Jumnearn. It was intriguing to say the least, we spent lotsa time speculating whether it was real. I figured it was fake since the eyes are still perfect, most preserved monks I’ve seen (thru the internet) are somewhat shrivelled and wear shades to cover the eyes. We couldn’t take any pics of it since it was prohibited, nobody was there to forbid us, but we figured, best have respect for others. Anyway, I did some googling since we came back and found out that Master Ajarn Jumnearn is far from dead, very alive, and does quite a bit of travelling every year. What we looked at was just a wax copy of him, LOL 😀 😀 Yes, we were THAT ignorant :p

Photobucket
Yes, as expected of Thailand, monkeys are everywhere around the temple, and they’re so used to visitors! This particular monkey seems to be enjoying the view from the cables quite a bit!

Photobucket

As the sky was starting to darken, we checked into Krabi River Hotel, left our belongings there, and set out again looking for dinner, and dinner we had at a restaurant not too far away in town!

Back at the hotel, we all had a bath before we hit the local food court, which is a short walk away through the gardens by the sea. It’s pretty interesting, the smell of salty seawater + smoke and delicious food!

Photobucket
It’s not much, but we had a good time trying out the various delicacies the vendors have to offer!

Photobucket
We even sat down for some drinks while chomping down on more food 😀

Photobucket
We lined up for almost 20 minutes just to buy the mini apoms this uncle. You’d have to take a number and line up just to buy from him! Uncle spoke to us in Mandarin and told us he had come from China decades ago!

There was a sort of parade going on at the park on the other side of the hotel, but it was quite far and no one was up for it, so back up we went to our rooms. Before going up, Mr Chai, the owner of the hotel, taught us a few Thai words 🙂 The rest of the night was spent playing UNO cards in our rooms before we went to sleep!

Hoarding parking spaces :D

Photobucket
Got the V230 back from the painters 2 days ago, CKO did a really good job with it, the paint was super smooth and shiny, the finish on the panel under the doors was great, and they even gave the wheel wells a new coat of tar! Excellent job for a reasonable price!

Cars, cars, cars, and cars

I’m very sad of what happened to the Multipla last night.

As of 2 weeks ago, the Transit has been sold to Uncle Lai as we’ve hardly any use for it anymore. I miss it.

Uncle Kwai drove 1612 back for a visit today. It was in horrible condition. I feel sad for it.

Got the V230 back today and finally had time to check it out real as well as drive it. Lots of creature comfort and amenities in the car, it will double up real good as a people carrier or goods transporter, too bad you really can’t expect anything nice aesthetics-wise from the Germans; the exterior is bland and the interior is fugly as hell.

While checking out the car, I noticed something though:
Photobucket

Photobucket
CHI SIN!! That’s all I have to say about the undercarriage. How could it be so clean?!!! Siao man, I thought it was already weird that all the interior carpets are still wrapped in plastic, but even the undercarriage looks so.. NEW! Madness! The van is in incredibly immaculate condition. Recall those “Must see to believe!” claims in Motortrader? Some things need to be seen to be believed.

Anyway, I mentioned I drove the van too, so how was it? One word: sucks.

OK, one word is not enough, I’ll elaborate a bit. The steering is numb. The slippery seats offer no lateral support at all, trying to throw me off at every corner. The auto gearbox is stupid. I knew from the get-go that it’s no match for Citroen’s Hydractive awesomeness, but the Airmatic suspension is epic fail; it couldn’t even absorb small bumps properly, even the Multipla and Transit absorb bumps better than it, and they handle better too! Speaking of handling, I think the V230 seriously lacks in that department. It has no cojones in corners. Mou chun doi. Tarak bola langsung. What a wuss. Or maybe it was me. Anyway, it made my balls shrink in the corners, I didn’t enjoy the drive. End of rant. At the end of the day, I’ll still drive it when I’ve no other choice. Beggars can’t be choosers :p
