Around midnight, last night, Mom called me out to see the flowers she planted. They’ve been planted for quite some time now, but it’s the first time ever they’re blooming!
Aren’t they beautiful? I googled these flowers a bit today, turns out they are a variety of orchid cactus, scientifically named Epiphyllum oxypetalum, or simply Dutchman’s Pipe, Night blooming Cereus, or Queen of the Night for people who cannot remember scientific names, like me 😀
Unfortunately, or fortunately, only 1 of 3 flowers failed to bloom:
So pretty! It was pleasantly fragrant while they were in bloom too! Too bad these will only bloom once; I woke up this morning, and saw that they’ve already wilted out, such ephemeral beauty.
Beautiful blooms in the night!
